The History of the NAACP
The NAACP has a rich and triumphant history. Formed on February 12, 1909 we are about to celebrate 112 years of civil rights advocacy.
Did you know the NAACP was founded by W.E.B. Dubois, from an earlier group called the Niagara Movement which was formed in NY in 1905? Ida B Wells and Mary Church Terrell were also part of the NAACP’s founding leadership.
This February, as another year passes, we celebrate the history of the NAACP, it’s brave founders, and the millions of members who have worked tirelessly over the last 112 years to advance the cause of equality.
